Top tips on how to set up your baby’s nursery

Setting up your baby’s nursery room can be quite overwhelming. You don’t want to miss anything, and you want to make sure that you create a beautiful space where you and your baby can feel comfortable and, most of all, safe.

The good news is that you don’t have to do all of this alone. You can now get help from our design crew! A fantastic team of professionals that will help you in creating that baby’s nursery room you always dreamt of. Take a look at this mood board designed for one of our customers. Isn’t it just beautiful?

Our team has come up with a comprehensive list of top tips to aid in a smooth nursery set-up and create the perfect space for your child to grow up in:

Safe Space

We can all agree that safety is first. It is impossible to keep an eye on your child 24/7 and that’s why being mindful of potential danger will give you some peace of mind in the long run.

For instance, don’t place the baby’s cot, chair or couch under a window. Keep the cot as clear as possible of stuffed animals and make sure you keep your baby’s toiletries and supplies well out of reach.

The Basics

Stick to the essentials so you can move comfortably in your baby’s nursery.

  • A cot: A good cot is a safe cot. The bars in the cot shouldn’t be more than 5 cms apart, all parts must be well assembled, and the paint must be lead-free.
  • A changing table: Changing tables that can double function as dressers are always best. You will save some space and have extra space to organise your baby’s clothes and toiletries.
  • Rocking chair: Plan for yourself! Don’t forget that you will need your very own space. A comfortable spot where to feed your baby, snuggle and read stories. Who knows? You might even end up spending more than one night sleeping there.

Cot Linen

Quality bedding is key! We want it to be pretty but don’t overlook comfort and safety.

One of the most important parts of the bedding is the fitted sheet. Make sure that it fits properly!

Also keep an eye on fabric content and washing instructions. You don’t want to experience any headaches afterwards when having to deal with endless laundry baskets!

Don’t forget the mattress pads! Dirty accidents are going to happen often…

Deco

Create a beautiful and happy space. Less is always more! Take into consideration that colours do have an effect on people. Aim for colours that offer calmness and tranquillity.

Designing a nursery where your baby feels happy and content will encourage them to want to spend more time on their own playing at a later stage.

Good Lighting

This is often overlooked, and it is very important.

Harsh lighting is not a good idea, so try to avoid exposed bulbs. Try a light dimmer instead to create a different ambience in your baby’s nursery depending on the time of the day.
